The cost should not be much concern because of the savings you will benefit from building your own solar power system.
If you had to purchase a complete system and paid for installation it would not be cheap but you would have recouped your investment over time. Building your own, you would save a lot of money buying your own from parts and saving on the labor costs and it will pay for itself much quicker.
